Power of Six Quest: Pay attention to the characters in this extract (8 Comments)
My eyes whip open. Two hands grip me hard by the shoulders. I’m covered in sweat and out of breath. I focus first on Sam standing over me, then on Six, with her stark hazel eyes that sometimes look blue and sometimes green, kneeling beside me, appearing tired and worn as though I just woke her, which I probably did.
‘What was that all about?’ Sam asks.
I shake my head, letting the vision dissipate, and I take in my surroundings. The room is dark with the curtains drawn, and I’m lying in the same bed I’ve spent the last week and a half in, healing from the battle wounds. Six has been recovering beside me, and neither she nor I have left this place since we arrived, relying on Sam to head out for food and supplies. A shabby motel room with two full beds off the main street in Trucksville, North Carolina. To rent the room, Sam had used one of the seventeen driver’s licenses Henri created for me before he was killed, and luckily the old man at the front desk was too busy watching TV to study the photograph. Situated on the northwestern edge of the state, the motel id a fifteen-minute drive from both Virginia and Tenessee, a location chosen mainly because we had travelled as far as we could go given the extent of our injuries. But our wounds have slowly healed, and our strength is finally returning.
‘You were talking in a foreign language I’ve never heard before,’ Sam says. ‘I think you made it up, dude.’
‘No, he was talking in Mogadorian,’ Six corrects him. ‘And even a little Loric.’
‘Really?’ I ask. ‘That’s totally weird.’
Six walks to the window and pulls back the right side of the curtains. ‘What were you dreaming about?’
I shake my head. ‘I’m not really sure. I was dreaming, but I wasn’t dreaming, you know. Having visions, I guess, and they were about them. We were about to have a battle; but I was, I don’t know, too weak or confused or something.’ I look up at Sam, who is frowning and looking at the TV. ‘What?’

Terms and Conditions
1. No purchase necessary to enter the competition.
- 2. This competition is open to UK residents aged 14 and over, with the exception of employees of the Promoter, their families, agents and anyone else connected with this promotion.
- 3. Entries must be received by midnight on Sunday 18th March 2012. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any entries that are incomplete, illegible, corrupted or fail to reach the Promoter by the relevant closing date for any reason. Proof of posting or sending is not proof of receipt. Entries via agents or third parties are invalid. Entries become the property of the Promoter and are not returned.
- 4. Only one entry per person. No entrant may win more than one prize.
- 5. To enter, email a sentence about why you want to be a member of They Walk Among Us as well as your name, age, address and telephone number to theywalkamongus@penguin.co.uk.
- 6. All correctly completed entries will be forwarded to a judging panel made up of the Puffin Marketing team. The judging panel will select 250 winners. The winners will be the entries that in the opinion of the judges give the most convincing reason for being a member of They Walk Among Us.
- 7. The prize for each of the winners is to become a member of They Walk Among Us and receive an advance proof copy of The Rise of Nine and a goody bag of Lorien Legacies items for themselves and their friends.
- 8. The winners’ membership of They Walk Among Us is subject to the winners agreeing to and abiding by the to the following rules of membership: (a) You agree to act as an ambassador for Pittacus Lore and the Lorien Legacies books; (b) You agree that where possible you will participate in any events, promotions and activities relating to the Lorien Legacies books which may reasonably be organised by the Promoter from time to time; and (c) You acknowledge that the Promoter reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withdraw or cancel your membership at any time if you do not comply with these rules of membership.
- 9. Prizes are subject to availability. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right (a) to substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value and (b) in exceptional circumstances to amend or foreclose the promotion without notice. No correspondence will be entered into.
- 10. The winners will be notified via email or post by Friday 23rd March 2012. The winners must claim their prize within 5 working days of the Promoter sending notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse and the Promoter reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with these rules.
- 11. By entering this competition each entrant confirms that his/her entry is their wholly-owned creation and to the extent that such entry makes use of any third party materials that these have been fully cleared unless they are no longer protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights. Entrants will keep the Promoter harmless from any claims in relation to their entry that the entry infringes the personal or proprietary right of any other person. By submitting an entry, each entrant grants to the Promoter a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to edit, publish, translate, modify, adapt, make available and distribute the entry throughout the world in any media now known or hereafter invented. Each entrant undertakes to complete any necessary documentation to formalise the licence. If you do not want to grant us these rights, please do not submit materials to us.
- 12. To obtain details of the winners please email puffin@penguin.co.uk stating the name of the competition in the subject heading 4 weeks after the closing date.
- 13. The Promoter will use any data submitted by entrants only for the purposes of running the competition, unless otherwise stated in the entry details. By entering this competition, all entrants consent to the use of their personal data by the Promoter for the purposes of the administration of this competition and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented.
- 14. The winners agree to take part in reasonable post-event publicity and to the use of their names and photographs in such publicity.

Lorien Legacies Book 3 title reveal! (7,904 Comments)
We can confirm that the third book in the Lorien Legacies series by Pittacus Lore will be entitled THE RISE OF NINE.
The UK release date is 30th August 2012. Just don’t tell the Mogadorians . . .
